According to liquor producing companies, hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars account for about 30 percent of the total sales of alcohol.

The state governments may consider allowing retail sale of liquor to restaurant and bar owners to reduce losses. The Hotel and Restaurant Association is making such demands from the government. However, for the sale of alcohol from hotels, restaurants and bars, the states will have to change their excise rules. Restaurants, pubs and bars are not licensed to sell bottled wine. They are only given a license to drink alcohol.
