Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident has been reported from Kandhamal district of Odisha. A woman from the district took a step that a mother can never dream of. A woman in Kandhamal pushed her two children into the well after an altercation with her husband. In both the children, the daughter was 9 years old while the son was 5 years old. Both the children died after drowning in the well.
According to police, the woman carried out the incident after a quarrel with her husband. Police officials in Raikia block of Kandhamal district said Bhagyalakshmi Patra, a resident of Christian Sahi, left home with her two children on Friday afternoon after having a fight with her husband M Rajesh Patra. Raikia police station inspector Srikant Khamari said the woman pushed both her children into the well, killing both the children. Though the woman did not jump into the well herself, her husband and villagers saw the woman crying near the well on Saturday morning. The bodies of the two children were recovered from the well with the help of fire men after hard work.
The woman has been admitted to the hospital, though her condition is said to be stable. Police said a case of murder will be registered against her and she will be arrested. On the other hand, the woman's brother has accused her husband of having extramarital affairs.
