ICC World Cup 2019 is around the corner and team India yet to make decision on its middle order. While many players have been tested in the most talked about – number 4 – slot, one player who hasn’t got the chance to prove his mettle in the middle order in the ODI setup is Ajinkya Rahane. He has performed well in the test matches but hasn’t got the opportunities to flourish in the limited-overs setup. The number four slot in the Indian team remains a major worry ahead of the upcoming 2019 World Cup. Now, with the IPL 2019 just a few days away, Rahane has said if he does well in the IPL then the World Cup spot will automatically come.
Ricky Ponting says, this player should play at No. 4 position for India in World Cup 2019
Rahane who is gearing up for the IPL 2019, has said that he will not take any undue pressure thinking about the World Cup and his sole focus is on to perform well in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals. Rahane told IANS, "The approach won't be any different with the World Cup spot looming because at the end you are playing cricket, be it the IPL or any other tournament. You have to score runs and do well for the team. The most important thing will be to think about the Rajasthan Royals rather than thinking too much about the road ahead. See, if I do well in the IPL, the World Cup (slot) will automatically come.”

He further added, "I feel it is important to express yourself and not take any undue pressure thinking about things which aren't in your control. The focus is the IPL.”
However, Indian captain Kohli had earlier stated that the performances in IPL won’t count for World Cup selection and the 15-man squad is almost decided for the cricket extravaganza.
