On the issue of the National Register of Citizen (NRC), WikiLeaks has unveiled a new secret among hot politics in the country. New disclosures by WikiLeaks have been targeted at UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress. In the revelations, Congress has been accused of supporting Bangladeshi intruders.

It was said in the disclosures that the law that was brought in 2006, took the responsibility of Bangladeshi living in Assam. After which the Congress had introduced the new law in 2006. WikiLeaks has alleged that in order to put Muslim votes in its favour, then Congress President Sonia Gandhi had appealed that her government could consider changing the laws of immigrants. The IMDT law associated with this was termed as unconstitutional in 2011 by the Supreme Court.

The WikiLeaks revelations have written that the Congress feared that Muslim votes were going away from their hands, which would decrease the Congress supporters. It has been written that the Muslim Congress has been a vote bank and their stand has been in the possession of Bangladeshi expatriates.

Significantly, after the release of National Register of Citizen in Assam, the country's politics has caught fire. From the public places to parliament, there is a sharp debate on this issue. Congress is targeting the Modi government on this issue. Senior Congress spokesman Anand Sharma, on behalf of Congress, said that the BJP and the central government should behave responsibly on this issue of national interest and unity. He said that Congress is raising the issue of leaving a large number of Indians as refugees in their own country and it is unacceptable.

The leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said that no citizen in our country should be excluded on the basis of caste-religion. He said that this is an issue related to human rights, and the number is not more than 40 lakh but it is more than 1.2 crore to the families.
