Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) stalwart leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan had filed a petition in the apex court for bail. Azam Khan's bail plea was heard in the top court on Tuesday. Azam Khan's lawyer Kapil Sibal presented strong arguments for bail in the court, while the UP government's lawyer also presented his side opposing Azam's bail. The top court has reserved the decision after hearing in this matter.
Assistant Solicitor General Raju, appearing for the UP government in the Supreme Court, opposed the bail of the SP leader. He said that Azam Khan had given this statement that I will see the SDM who got the case written against me. Just let my government come. On this, Justice Rao said that Raju, you cannot do this. Bail is a separate matter and after that jail is a separate matter. The court also asked whether bail was granted in those cases. On this question, the Assistant Solicitor General said that yes, but he is a habitual offender. This is one of the grounds for not granting bail.
The Assistant Solicitor General also alleged that Azam Khan had threatened the investigating officer who had gone to inquire. Congress leader advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Azam Khan, said that in this case the same complainant has made a supplementary complaint. No permission has been given by the court for further investigation. They are investigating themselves while this case has been registered after 13 years. what is going on? Azam Khan's lawyer also said that we do not run schools. We haven't done anything.
