Kochi: In the Kerala cabinet, it has been decided to issue a new ordinance to withdraw section 118A in the Police Act. This change was described by the people as freedom of expression and attack on the media. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the decision has been taken after a special cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

He also said that the government would recommend to the Governor of Kerala to issue an ordinance to repeal Section 118A in the Kerala Police Act. He said that many people have expressed concern that there is a possibility of misuse of the law because it gives more powers to the police.
