BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated on Monday that he would consider taking necessary action against Muskan Khan, a Karnataka student who was recently hailed by Al-Qaeda terrorist Ayman al-Zawahiri over the hijab controversy.

The issue occurred after Zawahiri hailed Muskan, a college student from Mandya district, in a nine-minute video for raising the phrase 'Allahu Akbar' to fight a throng chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' at the campus grounds during the height of Karnataka's hijab crisis.  Zawahiri may be heard delivering a poem he wrote to honour Muskan in the video titled "The Noble Woman of India."

Bommai's comments came after BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde wrote to him, requesting that he undertake a thorough investigation into Muskan to determine if she had any links with any banned organisation.  "The letter written by Ananth Kumar Hegde is unknown to me. I'll speak with him and inquire about the situation. Based on that, I will take appropriate action "Bommai remarked.

Muskan's father, Mohammad Hussain, has previously indicated that his daughter is more interested in studies and that they are happy living with Hindu brothers in Karnataka.
