Mumbai: Social activist Anna Hazare has strongly opposed the decision of the Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra to allow the sale of wine in supermarkets. He has termed this decision of the Thackeray government as unfortunate. Anna Hazare also said that due to this decision of the government, people will get addicted to alcohol.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago the Uddhav government had allowed supermarkets and walk-in stores to sell liquor to customers. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting on Thursday. The state government said the move would give a boost to the liquor industry and ensure that farmers get the right price for their produce. However, many people are criticizing this decision of the government. Social activist Anna Hazare on Monday said that the Maharashtra government's decision to allow the sale of liquor in supermarkets is unfortunate.

He said that it is the duty of the government to work towards de-addiction, but I am sad to see that this government is taking decisions for economic benefits, as a result of which people will get addicted to alcohol. Anna Hazare has reacted sharply to the state government's decision to allow the sale of liquor in supermarkets. He said, 'This decision is unfortunate. If we want to look after the interests of the farmers, then we have to give a guaranteed price for their crops.
