Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with senior ministers in Parliament on Friday to discuss strategy for the next winter session. The event was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, and Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal.

Parliament's winter session began on November 29 and is expected to end on December 23. Meanwhile, both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned several times over the Opposition's demand that the Rajya Sabha's suspension of 12 MPs be lifted.
The MPs were suspended near the end of the monsoon session in August due to their rowdy behaviour.

As a token of respect for Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and 12 others who died in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu, the Opposition leaders called off their sit-in dharna against the suspension of the 12 Rajya Sabha MPs scheduled for Thursday. Both Houses of Parliament conducted a two-minute moment of silence to commemorate General Rawat's and others' deaths.
