A 34-year-old woman admitted in hospital sustained severe burns after she jumped on the funeral pyre of her father. The father of woman died after contracting Covid-19, as per the police statement on Wednesday.
Damodardas Sharda passed away due to coronavirus infection at a hospital on Tuesday. While her daughter Sharda was being cremated, the youngest of his three daughters, Chandra Sharda, suddenly jumped on the pyre, the police reported. The officials added that although she was pulled out of it by people, she was 70 per cent burnt. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and from there, referred to Jodhpur for treatment. Sharda was a resident of Rai Colony of Barmer admitted to the district hospital on Sunday.
The police officer said the youngest daughter had insisted to go to crematorium for the last rites.
