A 75-year-old woman was dragged on the road by her daughter-in-law in Odisha. The incident took place on Thursday at Talapali village under Gaisilat block in Bargarh district. 

The incident came into the eyes of people when the video of the incident went viral on social media.

A social activist Namrata Chaddha took up a stand for the old women and demanded strict action against the accused daughter in law Balamati Sahu. Activist Namrata Chaddha said that the husband of accused should also be arrested for supporting Balamati in such a cruel event.

The local police have arrested Balamati Sahu and filed a case for assaulting her mother-in-law Padmabati Sahu and also of domestic violence against the old aged. During police interrogation, Balamati said that she did it because of some family disputes regarding land and property.  

Basing on the complaint filed in connection with the incident, we registered a case and subsequently arrested Baramati. Our investigation in connection with the incident is on, assistant superintendent of police Jasobanta Senapati said.

Padmavati have minor injuries and she is admitted to the hospital where she is getting proper treatment. Doctors are looking over her health.
