Significantly, women who are angry with gender inequality and workplace discrimination have taken to the streets and about 1.5 lakh women in Switzerland have come to the streets demanding the same salary and opportunities as men.

According to media reports, women in Switzerland are paid a salary of about 20 per cent less than men. While women have recently launched a march against sexual harassment and violence, they want zero tolerance against violence against them. In 12 Swiss cities, women are reported to have taken to the streets demanding that women working in all sectors participate in this March. On Friday, the women's performance was dubbed the 'Purple Wave' as the women who participated in the protest chose purple and threw away their tie and underwear during the protest.
