Bhopal: Liquor shops were closed due to lockdown. But now shops are opening. Out of 90 liquor shops closed for 78 days in Bhopal district, 32 shops opened on Tuesday at five in the evening. All these shops are operated by the Excise Department. The department has even engaged in selling liquor and collecting revenue. While women constables have been engaged in selling liquor, women Naib Tehsildars have been deployed to collect revenue and deposit it in the bank. For this, a duty chart has also been prepared. Although the department had written a letter to install Home Guard jawans.

Apart from this, long lines are seen to but liquor as soon as liquor shops opened. The liquor was sold at a new rate for the year 2020-21. People who had come to buy liquor had parked vehicles in front of the shop, due to which the situation of the jam was also created many times on the main road. A long line of workers and slum dwellers was seen in front of Nehru Park Complex. In Lalghati and Gandhinagar, people flocked to buy liquor as soon as shops opened.

Despite the opening of the shop after a long time, there was not much merchandise in the shops. There were also complaints of illegal sale of liquor during the lockdown. People could not get their brand of choice. People bought the brand they got right now. There is a possibility of new goods coming in the next two-three days. Although it took time to get liquor shops from contractors and counting it, 50 percent of liquor shops could not sell.
