According to separate reports, Jeremy started the day on July 17 after the emoji calendar appeared on the iPhone. Jeremy said that there was no main reason behind choosing World Emoji Day on this day. In the year 2016, Google changed Unicode in the calendar to World Emoji Day on July 17 on its various products.
