World famous environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna dies of coronavirus

Dehradun: Amidst the Corona crisis, a sad news has surfaced in which Sunderlal Bahuguna, the leader of the Chipko movement and a world-renowned environmentalist, is no more. World famous environmentalist Bahuguna has died of corona infection. At the age of 95, Sunderlal Bahuguna breathed his last at Rishikesh AIIMS.

He was found infected with corona virus a few days ago. After which he was admitted to Rishikesh AIIMS. His health continued to deteriorate because of which he went under critical stage. He was undergoing treatment here for a long time but passed away on Friday. Sunderlal Bahuguna was a noted fortified environmentalist and leader of the Chipko movement.

World famous environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna had been fighting for the conservation of forests in the Himalayas for the past several years. He was previously one of the leading members of the Chipco movement in the 1970s. Thereafter, the Anti Tehri Dam movement was also led in early 2004 starting from the 1980s. The Chipko Movement leader Sunderlal Bahuguna had also extended his support to the annadatas protesting against the three agricultural laws. It may be recalled that farmers have been protesting against three agricultural laws on all borders of the national capital since November 26.
