Today is 13 February, and this day is known as 'World Radio Day'. Today, people are seen giving congratulations all over social media. On 29 September 2011, it was decided that the world would celebrate 'World Radio Day'. Today is the time of smartphones, but listening to the radio is also fun. People's craze for radio has not diminished even today. It is said that Canadian scientist Reginald Fessenden played his violin on the evening of 24 December 1906. Subsequently, the radio operators of all ships floating in the Atlantic Ocean heard that music on their radio sets. During that time it was the beginning of radio broadcasting in the world.

It is said that radio was started in India by Jagdish Chandra Basu and in 1900 by Guglielmo Marconi. At that time, simultaneous messaging or broadcasting to more than one person began in 1906 with Fessenden. At that time the use of radio was limited to the Navy only. In 1918, Lee the Forrest started the world's first radio station in Highbridge area of New York. The station closed shortly after due to some reason. A year after this, Forrest started another radio station in 1919 and very few people know that radio was first legally recognized in 1920.

This happened when Frank Conard, who worked in the Navy's radio department, got permission to start a radio station. The first advertisement in radio started in the year 1923. In November 1941, Subhash Chandra Bose addressed the Indians from Germany on the radio. It is said that in the year 1936, the official 'Imperial Radio of India' started in India which became All India Radio after independence. There are 420 AIR stations in the country, which have access to 99.19% of the population in 92% of the area.
