New Delhi, On Sunday, at the Rajpath, a rally took out by over 150 wheel chair users along with hundreds of able-bodied persons to increase awareness about spinal cord injuries and their prevention.

Today, Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan flagged off the rally to mark the World Spinal Injury Day.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities launched the nationwide campaign- Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan for achieving universal accessibility for persons with disabilities.

It has been decided by the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) that 'Spinal Cord Injury Day’ will be observed on September 5 every year with the aim of rising awareness among people.
