Ayodhya: Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chairman MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has distanced himself from the responsibility of the post. WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar has informed that the federation has a casual AGM in Ayodhya on Sunday. MPs can only go to speak in this. It is being told that there will also be a discussion on the controversy over the union. He said no decision had been taken yet on dissolving the wrestling association. In response to a question, Tomar said, "So far I have not received any complaint from any wrestler.''
During the tournament, the MP appeared like just a spectator. After the launch, the MPs, who arrived at the indoor stadium, sat on the dais along with other dignitaries present. Braj Bhushan remained silent throughout the day on Saturday. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Friday constituted a 7-member committee, including players like MC Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt, to probe allegations of sexual harassment leveled against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by top wrestlers.
Besides boxing legend Mary Kom and wrestler Yogeshwar, the panel includes archer Dola Banerjee and Weightlifting Federation of India president Sahdev Yadav. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the IOA Executive Council. IOA President PT Usha and Joint Secretary Kalyan Choubey besides players like Abhinav Bindra and Yogeshwar also participated in the forum. Shiva Keshavan attended the meeting as a special invitee.
