Army wrestler Satender Malik on Tuesday attacked referee Jagbir Singh after he lost the 125kg final amid Commonwealth Games trials here, prompting the national federation to announce a life ban on him. The Air Force wrestler was leading 3-0 18 seconds before the end of the decider but Mohit pushed him off the mat after a 'take-down'. The referee, however, did not give Mohit 2 points of 'take down' by Virender Malik and the wrestler has challenged the decision as well. The jury of this bout, Satyadev Malik, has recused himself from the decision citing impartiality.

Satyadev is from Mokhra village from where Satender is also coming. After which experienced referee Jagbir Singh has also been requested to look into this challenge. He has also given the decision to give three points to Mohit with the help of TV replays. After which the score became 3-3 and remained intact till the end. Mohit is declared the winner on getting the last point of the match. This decision made Satender lose his cool and he went to the mat of the 57kg match where the final match between Ravi Dahiya and Aman was taking place, where Jagbir was also present. Satender reached Jagbir and started beating him. He first abused Jagbir and then slapped him, who lost his balance and fell on the ground.

After which the 57 kg match was stopped because after this incident, there has been a ruckus inside the KD Jadhav Hall of Indira Gandhi Stadium. Hundreds of fans, officials and participants were even more shocked to see such a sight. Officials of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) have sent Satender out of the hall and announced to start the match once again. All this was happening in front of the eyes of WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh sitting on the stage. WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Tomar has said that we have banned Satender Malik for life. This decision has been taken by the WFI President. The referee of that match will also be called to explain why Mohit was not awarded points even though he had clearly 'take down'.
