New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday (November 24) said that historians have miswritten the history of India. At the same time, he has also stressed the need to rewrite it. Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed to historians to rewrite history in the Indian context.

Along with this, Amit Shah has also assured support from the government for this work. The Home Minister said at a function of the Assam government in Delhi, 'I am a student of history and I have heard many times that our history has not been presented properly and on the contrary it has been distorted. Maybe it is right, but now we need to fix it.' The Union Home Minister has said that no one can stop people from rewriting history that has been "distorted" and asked historians and students to explore the 30 kingdoms and countries that ruled different parts of India for over 150 years. Real history should be written by researching more than 300 personalities who sacrificed for the freedom of India.

Amit Shah has said that 'If Lachit Borphukan had not been there, the Northeast would not have been a part of India today, because the decisions taken by him at that time and his courage saved not only the Northeast but the entire South Asia from fanatical invaders.' Shah further said, 'I often get complaints that our history has been distorted, tampered with. These allegations may also be true. But, who's stopping them from improving? Who can stop us from writing true history today?'
