Saharanpur: The demand for the change of the name of Sheikhul Hind Maulana Mahmood Hassan Medical College in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh to Kanshiram Medical College has begun. Uttar Pradesh's AYUSH Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that the government is not in a position to do so Dharam Singh Saini has also raised questions about the name of the medical college. He told Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi that the name of the college is so long that people cannot remember. Therefore, the name should be changed to Kanshiram Medical College again.

It may be mentioned that the medical college was first named as Manwar Kanshiram Medical College, which was changed to Sheikhul Hind Maulana Mahmood Hasan by the Akhilesh Yadav government of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in 2012. During the planting programme on Sunday (11th August), UP Cabinet Minister Dharam Singh Saini slammed the principal of the medical college.

There was a visit of CM Yogi to Saharanpur on 29th June. During that time, Medical College Principal Arvind Trivedi was on leave for 3 days without notice. On the same occasion, Minister Dharamsingh Saini, on Sunday (11th August), termed the principal as negligent and told the forum that the principal should take reforms, including staff, and said that the medical college was running on 5 people. The minister also accused the five men of exploiting staff, saying the five people should be removed immediately.
