Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath government of UP is preparing to ban the extremist organization Popular Front of India (PFI). The organization's involvement in carrying out violent incidents has been revealed during statewide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Intelligence reports reveal that the PFI also had a major role in the violence that erupted during the demonstrations.

According to government sources, the home department of the Yogi government is preparing a draft banning PFI in the state. Evidence against PFI leaders has been found in several cases of violence during demonstrations in the state. So far, about 20 PFI members have been arrested. These include the name of Noor Hasan, state president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), the political arm of the PFI.

The Lucknow Police, including PFI state convenor Wasim Ahmed, was also arrested due to large-scale violence and arson in the city. The central leadership of the PFI, on the other hand, says that the Yogi government is implicating the organization on a false charge. PFI said that Ahmad, arrested by the Lucknow police, had no role in arson or damage to government property.
