Lucknow: The Culture Department of Uttar Pradesh will now confer awards on the cultural workers, artists, painters, sculptors, theatre artists, dancers, instrumentalists and folk artists of the state for their commendable contribution towards art. The Department of Culture will not only give awards of Rs 11-11 lakh to such selected artists, cultural workers every year, as well as now the State Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhartendu Natya Akademi will also honour the award in addition to the UP Sangeet Natak Akademi.
State Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh has given information about this while holding a press conference at Lok Bhavan. Presenting the report card of the first hundred days of his department, he said that Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman, awards would be started by autonomous organizations under the Department of Culture in the event organized on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Day every year on 24 January. The number of awards of Sangeet Natak Akademi etc. will also be increased.
