New Delhi: After the order of the top court, the police team on the way to Uttar Pradesh from Ropar Jail with Punjab Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar will be kept in UP's Banda Jail, where several cases registered. Chitrakoot Inspector General K Satyanarayana said, "After reaching Ropar in Punjab, the team will take Ansari in custody and complete the paperwork formalities to bring him back. Enough security force is being sent to bring Ansari back to UP safely".

A medical test of Mukhtar Ansari can also be done in Punjab before he is brought to Banda Jail. On reaching Banda jail, the RT-PCR test will be tested and then quarantined in a high-security cell. The IG said, "Security at the jail has been increased. Additional security forces will be deployed at the main gate and surrounding areas. Along with this, a high alert has been put on in Banda and adjoining districts. All the hotels and Guesthouses will also be monitored".

On 26 March, the Supreme court had ordered the Punjab government to hand over Mukhtar Ansari to Uttar Pradesh Police within 2 weeks. Thereafter, the Home and Justice Department of the Punjab government wrote a letter to Additional Chief Secretary Home Avnish Awasthi on April 3 to make suitable arrangements to hand over Mukhtar Ansari to the UP police before 8 April.
