Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition seeking to restrain CM Yogi Adityanath from using the word Yogi in his name along with imposing a fine of Rs one lakh. The High Court has directed the petitioner to deposit the compensation amount within six weeks.

This order was given by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Piyush Agarwal. The amount of compensation will be given to the handicapped center. It was said in the petition that Yogi Adityanath has been filing nominations and taking oath in different names in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. Whereas he should contest election only in his official name and should take oath in that name. According to the petition, Yogi Adityanath took oath in the name of Adityanath in the 2004, 2009, 2014 elections. After that he put Yogi in front of his name.

The petitioner said in the court that the CM is using the word Yogi in his name in the same way as the title doctor or engineer is used. So they should be stopped from using the word Yogi in front of their name. Describing the petition as a waste of the court's time, the court imposed a compensation of one lakh rupees and rejected the petition.
