SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol hosted a "housewarming" event in the presidential office's front yard in central Seoul, inviting 400 neighbours and others to celebrate the office's relocation.
It was reported that Yoon has moved the presidential office from Cheong Wa Dae to the former Defence Ministry building in Yongsan in order to better connect with the people, as part of his campaign pledge.
According to officials, approximately 400 Yongsan residents, young Afghan refugees, and small business owners were invited to the event on Sunday, which was held in time for the completion of remodelling work at the building.
"I appreciate you allowing me and the presidential office staff to visit Yongsan and for making us feel welcome," Yoon said. "I'm going to work harder." "I believe South Korea and the entire world will be happier when South Koreans, who are currently in a difficult situation, and people all over the world have a sense of becoming one and uniting," the President said.
On Sunday, there was a flea market and a street food event, with small merchants from around the presidential office partaking.
