Tokyo: Yoshihide Suga will be Japan's next PM. Suga will replace PM Shinzo Abe. Suga has worked with Shinzo Abe for quite some time. Yoshihide Suga won the election led by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party in Japan. During Abe's tenure, 71-year-old Suga has held several key positions.

Yoshihide Suga, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, does not belong to any faction in the party. He is seen as someone who can take Abe's policies forward. It includes Japan's security alliance with the US, dealing with the Corona pandemic and strengthening the economy. When questioned about the important policies of the post-Abe government, Suga mentioned that tackling the Corona pandemic would be the biggest challenge. Former PM Shinzo Abe resigned a few days ago due to health reasons.

Soft-spoken Yoshihide Suga is the longest-serving chief cabinet secretary in Japan. He has also been the policy coordinator and advisor for Shinzo Abe. He has been the pivot of the centralized forces of the Prime Minister's Office, which emphasized the implementation of policies. Suga had to face opposition last year due to his spiteful reaction. A newspaper journalist had asked him tough questions on criticism of Abe's policies, on which he had become angry.
