On Saturday, the controversial Islamic campaigner Zakir Naik, running a new tactic to avoid extradition, claimed that the BJP government had asked him to support the Kashmir issue. The government had asked to be discharged in the money laundering case against him on his return to India.

On this matter, Naik said in a video released through his PR team that in September, on the instructions of PM Modi and the Home Minister, a representative of the government approached him and offered a deal on Kashmir. According to Zakir, during the meeting that lasted for several hours, the representative said, he will clear the misunderstanding between the government and Naik.
Naik will have to support the government in its decision to remove Article 370 from Kashmir. Naik said that he was also prevented from issuing public statements against PM Modi and BJP after rejecting the deal. Zakir has been hiding in Malaysia for 3 years. India declared him a fugitive for his involvement in activities against the country. Investigations are also going on against him for a blast in Dhaka's Holly Artisan Bakery in July 2016.
