KIEV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared that he will speak at a UN Security Council emergency meeting on Tuesday.
According to the BBC, President Poroshenko said in his nightly video message that an open and thorough probe into the alleged massacre of people in Bucha city, around 60 kilometres from Kiev, is in Ukraine's best interests. "I'd like to emphasise that we're looking for the most comprehensive, transparent investigation possible, with the conclusions made public and explained to the entire international community," he said.
"There will come a moment when every Russian will know the complete truth about who of their countrymen was killed. Who was the one who placed the order? Who turned a blind eye to murder? "We'll take care of everything." And we'll make it famous all across the world. It is now the year 2022. And we have far more tools than those who have been holding Nazis accountable since WWII," stated the President. He made the statement during a trip to Bucha on Monday.
According to Ukrayinska Pravda, Zelensky "inspected the road with the destroyed Russian equipment and spoke with the residents" during his visit.
On April 2, Russian forces liberated Bucha, as well as Monastyrskyi, Irpin, Hostomel, Borodyanka, Makariv, Kopyliv, and Motyzhyn, all in the Kiev region. Later that day, Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk revealed that a mass grave in the city had been uncovered, burying nearly 300 bodies.
