Kanpur: After Kerala, Kanpur in UP is now witnessing the scourge of the Zika virus. A Zika virus patient has been reported here. In fact, under the information received, the patient is a 57-year-old Air Force employee who was admitted to the hospital after he was diagnosed with dengue fever. As per the information received in the case, the patient was admitted to Seven Air Force Hospital on October 19 but samples were sent to the National Institute of Virolaji Pune for testing when his condition did not improve.

After the test, it was found late last Saturday night that the man was positive for the Zika virus. The UP Health Department has been on alert since the first Zika virus patient was reported. Now the patient and 22 people who are close to him as well as the staff treating him have been isolated. Samples of all of them have also been sent to KGMU Lucknow for examination. Let us also tell all of you that the Warrant Officer of the Air Force Station, MM Ali, has been found positive for the Zika virus. At present, 10 teams have been constituted to prevent Zika virus infection.

In fact, Air Force warrant officer MM Ali had been suffering from fever for four to five days. When the positive report was received, the Delhi Health Ministry team along with the local team visited the patient's house. The patient is said to be from Pokharpur (Chakeri).
