New Delhi:- Zoom has released a new tool called Zoom Clips. With this tool, users can record, edit, and share videos without needing to join a meeting. It is a part of Zoom's efforts to offer a wider range of products.

Zoom Clips is a new feature that is currently available for testing by the public. It allows users to have a special place where they can keep all their video clips. From here, they can do lots of things like organizing, sharing, giving new names, looking for specific clips, downloading them, or even getting rid of them if they don't need them anymore.

You can use Clips on your computer to capture your screen, webcam, or just part of your screen. You can access it from the desktop Zoom app, Zoom web portal, or the Mac menu bar and Windows system tray. Additionally, you can choose to have a virtual background in your video.

After recording clips in Clips, users can add a title, description, and tags. They can also remove parts they don't want and share the recording through email on Zoom's website. From the same website, they can decide who can watch the video (like anyone with the link or only people in a group), and see comments and information like how many people watched it and how much of it they watched.

As my coworker Paul Sawers explained to me, Zoom already had a way to send videos without having to watch them at the same time in their Zoom Team Chat product. But Clips seems to be a stronger solution that directly competes with platforms such as Weet, Loom, and Bubbles. (To explain it in simpler terms, video messages in Team Chat can only be shared with people who are part of the Team Chat channel).

"According to David Ball, a manager at Zoom, a lot of people are using asynchronous video tools to easily and quickly record themselves and their screens. They can then send these high-quality videos to their colleagues and customers. " "With our new asynchronous video option, you can easily show important information to colleagues quickly, add a personal touch to your teamwork, or simply share a detailed update on a project without having to attend a live meeting. The increase in asynchronous video is happening as people are feeling tired of video calls after the pandemic. In a survey conducted in 2022, it was found that 80% of the people in the United States. Employees said they were annoyed and tired of having to join video calls so often. 75% of them admitted to skipping a meeting just because they didn't want to attend it.

Zoom, which is facing tougher competition and slower growth, has been adding more products and forming more strategic partnerships in the past year. At the same time, it is reducing costs by letting go of 15% of its employees.

Earlier in May, Zoom announced that it would work together with AI startup Anthropic to bring Anthropic's Claude chatbot to different apps and services provided by Zoom. And, after adding features for people to work together at the same place to compete with Slack and Calendly, Zoom bought a company called Workvivo from Ireland. Workvivo helps employees communicate with each other. This is the first company that Zoom bought after acquiring start-up company Solvvy, which makes customer service software.

Zoom has used AI technologies a lot, including generative AI, but they haven't always thought about what might happen as a result. Some people say that the algorithms used in Zoom's sales assistant tool, Zoom IQ for Sales, were not working correctly. Some people have disagreed with the company's rules about gathering customer information to teach Zoom's AI features.

However, it seems like the investments are starting to be profitable. In its latest financial report, Zoom did better than expected. They made a profit of $15. 4 million in the first quarter and earned $1. 11 billion in revenue. This is more than the $1. 07 billion they earned last year.
