The government on Monday conceded that 13 out of 20 IIMs are working without directors.
In a composed answer in Lok Sabha, priest of state for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey said IIMs in Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Rohtak, Ranchi, Raipur, Udaipur, Tiruchirappalli, Amritsar, Sirmaur, Bodh Gaya, Sambalpur, Nagpur, and Visakhapatnam are without directors.
If there should arise an occurrence of different IIMs without executives - aside from Kozhikode and Udaipur - even government conceded in Parliament that inquiry cum-choice board of trustees had as of now gave the names of shortlisted hopefuls. "Shortlisted names are with the service for long," one source said.
The service kept up that work of IIMs is going on easily as executives of the tutor IIMs are taking care of the six new IIMs (IIM Amritsar, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Nagpur and IIM Visakhapatnam), till the arrangement of the normal chief. For different IIMs, the residency of the active chief has been broadened or the seniormost educator of the establishment has been given extra charge of the post of the director.
