South Africa tornado run chase past Bangladesh to settle the first ODI in Kimberley with a perfect 10-wicket victory, thanks to tons from openers Quinton De Kock and Hashim Amla. Opting to bat first, the visitors put their best foot forward, registering their highest score against the Proteas with a score of 278, with Mushfiqur Rahman leading the way with a three-digit figure.

Meanwhile, Amla, who hailed up his 26th ODI hundred in just his 154th innings, broke the India skipper's record, who was earlier the fastest to achieve the feat in 166 innings. This is not the first time that Amla has broken Kohli's record though. The South African opener became the fastest to reach 7000 runs, taking only 150 innings compared to Kohli's 169.

The former South Africa skipper and current opening batsmen Hasim Amla also holds the record for the fastest to reach 6000, 5000, 4000, 3000 and 2000 runs, having got to the landmarks in 123, 101, 81, 57 and 40 innings respectively. The pair also overtook the iconic opening pair of Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs, becoming the only South African pair to score the most runs. South Africa also became the only team to chase the highest target without losing a wicket, beating Alex Hales and Jason Roy’s record of 255 against Sri Lanka back in 2016.
