Sir Dominican Ashquith, British High Commissioner has said that Indian dishes are very popular in the UK and contribute significantly in strengthening the cultural relations of the two countries.
Ashquith said on the occasion of an event, "It is true that if you go to visit in Britain you will find many such places where you will find an Indian restaurant on average every hundred yards."
In British universities mentioning Indian food, he said that his memory of eating Indian food can not be separated from his student life at university.
He explained that the only restaurant I could afford in student life in Britain was an Indian. It did not take stupid charges on recipes like pasta in Italian restaurants. He said that I liked the typical Indian dishes, because in those days they were quite cheap.
