New Delhi: Defense Ministry officials and the Ministry of External Affairs were discussing with a group of Parliamentarians including Rahul Gandhi on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi compared the Indian Army's surgical strikes with the concealed operations of the Israeli forces.

In the meeting, all the parliamentary panel member’s other than Congress vice president inquired the questions as they wanted to know that the surgical strikes which held on September 29 were the first cross border strikes or not. The questions were asked from Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and the Vice Chief of the Indian Army.

Foreign Secretary accepted that strikes occurred before but they have been made public for the first time, claimed lawmakers on the foreign affairs panel.

Mohammed Salim of the CPIM said, “the credit goes to men in uniform. Those who are guarding the borders and have successful and precisely done what was required to do? It is not new as they were done earlier also. But for the first time, the RSS, the Defence Minister and now the Prime Minister have joined the bandwagon to usurp credit."
