Some of the bones discovered in the Santa Maria caves hints about the earlier human cannibalism. These bones were found in the European Mediterranean region. These bones are alleged of 10,000 years old, which have the spots of scratch and bites on it.

Researchers said that these bones belong to the Mesolithic period, which was about 10,200 and 8,000 years ago. Researcher Juan Morales-Perez from the University of Valencia in Spain said that these findings were accidental.

Morales-Perez said, "I was studying the remains of Mesolithic animals from the Santa Maria site, and suddenly I identified a human distal humerus – an elbow – and it was full of cuts."

Researchers got 30 bones over there, which belongs to the different age group- a robust adult, a gracile adult and an infant.
