Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed strong resentment over the hanging of Shimla bypass and the Parwanoo-Solan Fourlane project in Himachal Pradesh, besides Gadkari talking to the state Chief Minister Jairam Thakur over the phone during the meeting to take immediate strict action on the responsible officials. However, the chairman of NHAI is being directed to suspend the officials associated with the project. Gadkari has directed to issue a new tender for both these projects in 3 months.

Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways, Gadkari held a meeting with officials of the NHAI, Ministry of Transport, Chief Minister Principal Secretary Sanjay Kundu and some officials of the state. Gadkari was extremely upset with the hanging of both projects. The sources said, 'Gadkari asked the NSAI chairman how he was allowed to work on the project without completing the formalities including land acquisition, tree felling, etc.' Meanwhile, Gadkari spoke to the CM of the state over phone.

Gadkari asked the chairman of NHAI to start work by issuing a new tender to complete the remaining work of the project within three months. 39 km of the road was to be built under the Parwanoo-Solan Fourlane project, but due to various problems including land acquisition, 20% of its work has not been completed. 3 tunnels were to be built along the four-lane road from Kaithalighat to Shimla bypass. The budget of this project is 1500 crores. It was to be completed this year in any case.
