Kolkata: Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will be going to start its fresh service from Yangon to Kolkata from Thursday. A release issued by the Airlines, said, “MAI will operate its twice a week service between Yangon and Kolkata using Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft”.
Myanmar Airways and Singapore based company founded a MAI in 1993 and started as a joint venture company.
“Effective from January 2014, the MAI is the 100 per cent complete member of Kanbawza (KBZ) Group of Companies, Myanmar National owned private company,” the release further stated.
The release said, “Being the only recipient in Myanmar of the IATA Operational Safety Audit Program (IOSA) Operator, MAI has code share agreement with Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Garuda Indonesia and currently flies between Yangon and Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Gaya, Guangzhou, and between Mandalay and Bangkok.”
