Nothing feels better than completing a good, invigorating workout. But there are a few harmful habits that can ruin all the effort you had just put into your sweat session. Avoid the following mistakes post your workout.
You’re covered in sweat. You’ll need to get those sweaty clothes off before they dry up and get nasty. If you don’t get out of your sweaty clothes, you can end up with a nasty, and gross, skin infection. Yeast infections like acne and all manners of other gross stuff. So, shower and get changed and allow your skin to breathe unhindered.
Once you’re done with workout, you need to stretch the muscles that were targeted. But not properly stretching after an intense workout can cause a build-up of lactic acid, injury, and can lead to improperly worked muscle. Even just five minutes of stretching can help keep your body limber, healthy, and injury free.
You’ve had a pretty good workout. So, going and grabbing some brownies or fries, is okay. No! it’s not okay. Exercise is not an excuse to take in too many calories or fat. Many people run into trouble by overestimating how hard they worked out or how many calories they burned.
Try and avoid a physically strenuous activity after working out. You should take at least a little time to just sit, relax and comfortably consume your post-workout meal.
Your body needs to replenish the water it stores to stay hydrated, so make sure you drink two to three cups in the hours right after your workout.
