New Delhi: A report on Arms Dealer Sanjay Bhandari wanted in the arms dealing (Arms dealer) case in the country has appeared in the United Kingdom Telegraph on Monday (January 10, 2022). The report claimed that Bhandari had filed a case against French company Thales (Thales) for Rs 92 crore of commission. Bhandari claimed that the Congress NEET alliance has not yet been commissioned in connection with a defence deal signed in India during the UPA regime. Sanjay Bhandari is wanted in the official Secret Act violation case and is now seeking shelter in the UK. In 2011, under the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government, a deal of €2.4 billion (Rs. 2,01,29,14,37,496) was signed to upgrade the Mirage-2000 fighter plane of the Indian Air Force. According to The Telegraph, the French company is accused of resorting to middlemen to secure international contracts. Bhandari, citing court papers, along with a senior defence ministry official, had helped Thales sell the upgrade of the Mirage Jet. He has also claimed that he should have received €20 million (Rs 167 crore) as consulting fees, but he got only €9 million (Rs 75 crore). Bhandari says he is special to the Congress, so he was implicated in 2016 for political reasons. It has alleged that the BJP started harassing him as soon as he came to power. That is why he fled to britain, where he is facing an extradition case. Sanjay Bhandari has described himself as a "famous commercial mediator involved in arms and defence in India" in the case, who has "worked with major international defence companies to help him on the arms deal with the Indian Ministry". However, the matter is still going on and a decision is expected by the end of the year. According to a report, Thales SA has denied Bhandari's allegations. Thales has said he had never entered into any contract with Bhandari or his companies for the project. Thales has said that he follows the law and adopts a zero tolerance policy in the case of corruption. The company regularly evaluates and revises its integrity program.
