Selfie took life! 39-year-old man dies after falling into gorge

Mumbai: The trend of selfies has increased so much nowadays that people risk their lives for capturing a cool view behind the picture. There are reports of accidents caused due to taking selfies carelessly every day. In the latest case, a man died after falling into a ditch while taking a selfie with monkeys in Maharashtra. The incident took place on Varandha Ghat Road on Tuesday (January 3) evening.

The police recovered his body on Wednesday (January 4) morning with the help of the local Sahyadri rescue team. The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Abdul Shaikh, who was on his way to Konkan in his car on Tuesday, Bhor police station inspector Vitthal Dabade told the media. On the way, he stopped near Waghjai temple on Warandha Ghat Road. During this time, he started trying to take selfies with the monkeys and fell into a 500-foot-deep ditch after he lost his balance.

His body was recovered from a ditch on Wednesday morning with the help of the local Sahyadri rescue team, Police said. At present, his body has been kept in the hospital for post-mortem. His family has also been informed. Police are trying to gather more information in the case.
