New Delhi:: Congress on Tuesday called for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to sack state minister Partha Chatterjee right away, who has been detained in connection with the alleged School Service Commission scam. "I am writing to express my displeasure with Partha Chatterjee, who currently occupies the position of Industry and State Parliamentary Affairs in your government. He served as Education Minister from 2014 to 2021, during which time the alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment took place. This Teacher Recruitment Scam was widely publicised, and everyone in Bengal was aware of it. Only after the court intervened did the investigation agencies begin to take action. It is a tremendous blemish on the West Bengal government. I strongly urge you to remove Partha Chatterjee from his position as Minister as soon as possible"The letter read. Chatterjee was brought to the Central Government Office (CGO) compound in Kolkata earlier this morning, a day after he and his aide Arpita Mukherjee were detained by the Enforcement Directorate until August 3.
