Citizenship Amendment Bill: US urges India to protect rights of religious minorities

The Government of India has recently passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, on this bill, the US State Department has said that India is a democratic country. Therefore, America hopes that it will protect the democratic values and rights of minorities in their country. This reaction has come at a time when the proposal of Kashmir is presented in the House of Representatives.

According to the media report, a spokesman of the US State Department said on Thursday that we are following the developments closely in relation to the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Religious freedom and equal treatment under the law are the core principles of our two democracies. The spokesman said that America urges India to protect the rights of its religious minorities keeping in mind the Constitution and democratic values of India.
