NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Ayush will hold a 'Yoga Amrit Mahotsav' to commemorate World Health Day. On April 7, the Ministry, in collaboration with its stakeholders, will kick off a 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga (June 21) with a big programme in the Red Fort featuring demonstrations of popular yoga practises. The event would be attended by Union officials, Members of Parliament, and Ambassadors from various nations, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla slated to be the chief guest. Yoga's global recognition, according to Union Minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal, is a source of pride for India. He added that yoga has been regarded as an important component of the cultural and spiritual heritage, and that preparations for the International Day of Yoga are well underway. During the 75-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga, which will be observed at 75 iconic sites across the country as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations marking 75 years of India's Independence, the Ministry hopes to inspire a mass movement for good health and wellbeing through yoga.
