It all started when some miscreants sought extortion from him in 2004. When the miscreants asked for extortion, Chanda Babu's son was at the shop. There was a dispute with the miscreants and in the meantime, the miscreants threw acid on both the sons of Chanda Babu. Both the brothers died due to acid. After this, Chanda Babu started a legal war against Shahabuddin. The period which started from 2004 and lasted for a long time, was dominated by Bahubalis in Bihar at that time, but the Nitish government took forward action on Shahabuddin. However, this case went on for a long time and in 2014, Chanda Babu's third son Rajiv, who was witness to the acid attack, was shot and killed.
