Britain newly records over 40,004 Covid-19 cases

Britain: According to official numbers given, Britain (United Kingdom) registered 40,004 new Covid-19 infections, increasing the national total to 9,845,492. In addition, 61 additional coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the country. There have been 143,927 coronavirus-related deaths in the United Kingdom, with 8,079 Covid-19 patients still in hospitals.

The latest figures come as Health Secretary Sajid Javid warned England is still a long way from adopting the government's Plan B of limitations, while countries across Europe are enacting tighter measures such as lockdowns and vaccine mandates in response to an increase in cases. According to sources, Plan B includes guidance to work from home and masking use needs in specific instances.

However, Chris Hopson, Chief Executive of NHS Providers, has stated that the service is seeing "extraordinary demand" for this time of year. According to the latest numbers, more than 88 percent of people aged 12 and up in the United Kingdom have received their first vaccine dose, and more than 80 percent have received both. Meanwhile, 26% have had a booster shot, which is the third vaccine dose.
