Central Panel concludes visit to TN's flood-hit districts

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar briefed the Central delegation visiting the state on the recent heavy rain and flooding in various districts.

After visiting flood-affected districts for two days, an inter-ministerial team led by Saurav Ray, Joint Secretary, Union Home Ministry, returned to Hyderabad on Friday night.

On July 20, a delegation of senior Central government officials arrived in Hyderabad. On July 21 and 22, they visited affected districts in two teams. Earlier, it met with Rahul Bojja, Secretary of Disaster Management, to examine the state's status. One team went to Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Adilabad, while the other went to Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.

The crew visited several towns to gain firsthand knowledge of the situation. The Chief Secretary praised the central delegation for visiting the state and witnessing the destruction of irrigation projects, highways, and numerous departments. It praised the district administration, state government, NDRF teams, Indian Air Force, and Army teams for their coordinated efforts, which resulted in just minor casualties despite heavy rains and flooding.

The Central team included Ray, Secretary P. Parthiban, Director K. Manoharan, Ramesh Kumar, Deep Shekar, Shiv Kumar Kushwaha, and A. Krishna Prasad.
