Flood wreaks havoc in Betul, Scorpio full of 6 people flushed away in water

Betul: A jeep has been washed away in a flood in a drain near Village Nanda Gomukh under Kelwat police station area in Savner tehsil of Maharashtra at around 2 pm on Tuesday. In the jeep, six members of the same family from village Datora of Multai tehsil of Betul district were sitting. The bodies of three persons have been fished out of the drain by the Sawner police and the search is on for the rest. Multai SDOP Namrata Sondhia has said that jeep number MH31 CP 0299 has been washed away in the flood. Madhukar Patil, a resident of Datora village in Multai, his wife Nirmala Patil, daughter Roshni Chowkikar and three others were on board.

It is being said that the jeep was being taken out amid the flood in the drain, but then it has been washed away in the stream. On receiving the information, the family members from Datora have also reached the spot. According to police, the accident took place on a culvert of Nanda Gomukh village. The fast flow of water from the top of the culvert is getting to be seen. Even after which the driver tried to remove the vehicle from it, but the jeep was washed away in the rapid flow. The locals informed the Kelwat police station about this. Kelwat police station in-charge Amit Kumar said there were six people in the jeep, out of which the bodies of three have been fished out. Three are being sought.

 

Other family members from Datara have also reached the spot after being informed by the police. The bodies of Madhukar Patil, Nirmala Patil and Roshni Chowkikar have been fished out from the drain. It is being said that all the six people in the jeep had gone to Nanda Gomukh to attend a family function. It happened on the way back. A large number of villagers and relatives from Datora village reached the spot after getting information about the incident.
