Child Vaccination: 2.6 lakh doses of 'Corbevax' administered the first day

New Delhi: On the first day of the vaccination drive for this age group, over 2.6 lakh youngsters aged 12 to 14 years received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine 'Corbevax,' according to the Union health ministry.

The immunisation against COVID-19 in the 12-14-year-old age range began on Wednesday, as the country commemorated National Vaccination Day, with Biological E's intramuscular vaccine Corbevax, which is administered in two doses 28 days apart. There were 4.7 crore children aged 12 and 13 in the country on March 1, 2021.

More than 2.15 crore (2,15,44,283) COVID-19 vaccination precaution doses have been given to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and those over the age of 60. According to ministry data, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has reached 180.69 crore (1,80,69,92,584). The Centre has advised states to hold special Covid vaccination sessions at designated locations and to instruct vaccine providers to avoid mixing vaccines during the inoculation of youngsters aged 12 to 14.
