Indian Coast Guard helps Sri Lankan Navy douse fire onboard oil tanker, 22 members rescued

Control could not be found for the second day on the fierce fire in the oil tanker off the coast of Sri Lanka. There is a danger of large oil leakage in the Indian Ocean by fire. Oil tanker has been towed 70 kilometers off the Sri Lankan coast with great difficulty. So far 22 people have been saved, while one member of the crew is still being reported as missing.

Sri Lanka's crude carrier New Diamond, filled with about 2,70,000 tonnes of oil, caught fire two days ago. The fire started when the ship was in the middle of the sea. The type of incident occurred 32 miles before the Sri Lankan coastline. After which the Indian Coast Guard and Navy team were put into rescue operation. According to media reports, all 22 persons aboard the ship have been rescued by the Indian Coastguard. But a member is said to be missing. Now the spread of fire has also stopped. In this case, it is being claimed that the fire will be controlled soon.

The Indian Coast Guard deployed three of its ships and a Dornier plane in this operation. New Diamond was coming to the country with oil from Kuwait. According to the Indian Coast Guard, the fire has caused a two meter long crack in the oil tanker New Diamond's pendulum.
